House Description

Clauzel is a newly converted traditional farmhouse for up to 6 people. With stunning views the house sits high on a hillside overlooking the picturesque and sleepy village of Castanet. The house is secluded within over a hectare of private land, offering a relaxing and tranquil location in the heart of rolling French countryside and woodland. Nearby villages include Monteils and Parisot which both have bakeries, small grocery shops and, very importantly, good family-run restaurants! Villefranche de Rouergue is a 20 minute drive and offers good shopping, restaurants and sightseeing. The airports of Rodez and Toulouse make Clauzel an easily accessible holiday destination.

Property

Newly restored with exposed beams and original stonework, the house retains an abundance of traditional charm yet offers excellent modern facilities and amenities. There are 3 double size bedrooms and 2 bath/shower rooms with exceptionally spacious living rooms with a sofa bed for extra flexibility and a fully equipped modern kitchen.

Outside, the shaped swimming pool with Roman steps is built into the hillside and has wonderful views to enjoy as you leisurely swim up and down. There are plenty of loungers and parasols on the terrace around the pool in this peaceful and secluded haven.

The pool is fully fenced for safety in accordance with strict French laws and has a constant depth of 1.3m, making it perfect for children and adults alike.

The gardens around the house are landscaped and there is a delightful sun-trap terrace surrounded by lavender in front of the house with table and chairs which is perfect for relaxing or eating al fresco.

With many trees in the grounds, there are lots of shady spots for guests to sit and enjoy a good book. The extensive grounds and surrounding countryside offer plenty of walks and naturelovers will be amazed by the varieties of wild flowers, butterflies and birds which fill this unspoiled corner of France.

The house is great for children who are able to play safely in the fields and woods around the house, untroubled by traffic.

“Thank you very much for a wonderful stay in such a beautiful and well equipped holiday home. We made lots of visits including Albi, Najac and Caylus which were lovely. What made it so great was having a base to come back to, to relax in the pool and terrace. The ping pong table also brought out the competition! Overall a lovely stay in tranquillity and nature” PRIZE WINNERS, July 2019

“We had a wonderful return to Clauzel and worked very hard at doing as little as possible – something which is very easy to achieve here. The pool has been great as always and there has been nothing better than just sitting enjoying the peace and tranquillity of this incredible setting. Clauzel has been everything we remembered it to be – I’m sure we’ll be back (again)” FOSTER family, August 2019

“The views around this house are absolutely stunning and it’s been one of the best places we have stayed in years … The pool is great fun to swim in and the man who looks after the pool, Richard, is a great help. The house is warm and cosy and it has been such a joy to stay here, I hope we can come back. Thank you so much Clauzel” DAVIES family, August 2019

“Many thanks for giving us the opporunity of staying in such a lovely french home. We have loved our visit to Clauzel. Making use of the facilities, especially the pool, which heated to a perfect temperature. The views are fantastic and the hammock chair was a favourite spot. We made the journey to Monteils for our daily croissaants, delicious, but get here early! We had a ovely easy (flat!) bike ride along the Aveyron River, enjoyed the night market at Najac and a particular highlight for the children was definately the river swimming at Laguepie. Lovely to be back holidaying in France in the summer again and Clauzel has made it all the more amazing. We hope to be back soon.” SHILITTO family, August 2022
