House Description

Looking over the ‘village green’ this lovely old house is now a wonderful family holiday home. Situated in the centre of a small, peaceful very pretty hamlet the house has bags of character, but is airy and spacious.

The wonderful thing about Pech Bernou is that there is separate self-contained accommodation provided in the ‘Bread Oven’ (which had been the local bar/cafe for years) if you want Grandma and Grandad to come along or for the teenagers to have more independence.

This property is ideally situated between the medieval villages of Najac and Cordes sur Ciel and 20 minutes from the vibrant market town of Villefranche and the spectacular St Antonin Noble Val ( backdrop to the films ‘Charlotte Grey’ and more recently ‘The Hundred Foot Journey’ starring Helen Mirren), there is easy access to restaurants, shops and the renowned traditional markets – assuming you can drag yourself away from the pool. The house is near enough for an energetic cycle to the bakers and the local lake which provides varied activities, whilst a car is essential to enjoy the area.

The Property

The main entrance (via stone steps) leads to the comfortable lounge with TV and log burning stove and a very large, well equipped kitchen/dining room; providing enough space for all the family to dine together easily. There is also a convenient toilet available on this floor.

The cellar houses utility (washing machine and tumble drier) and bikes which you are welcome to use at your own risk.

An impressive staircase leads to three spacious bedrooms, an en suite and a family bathroom. Bedroom 1 is more like a family room with a cot provided should you need it. Bedroom 2 has twin beds; and Bedroom 3 is large and airy with an unusual en-suite. All the rooms are simply furnished but comfortable and welcoming, with several quirky features which make this an interesting place to holiday.

The Grounds

The large, alarmed private pool area is in the garden nearby, it is totally secluded, with the garden linking the ‘Bread Oven’ to the pool area. There is space here to enjoy an alfresco meal in the shade of the established trees.

The ‘Bread Oven’ is situated within the garden across the lane has one room on the gound floor providing lounge and kitchen facilities, with a double bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Plenty of space for Grandma and Grandad!

As the house is near enough for an energetic cycle to the patisserie and the local lake which provides numerous activities, while a car is essential to enjoy the area, you don’t have to use it every day if you don’t want to. This property is ideally situated between the medieval villages of Najac and Corde sur Ciel and 20 minutes from the vibrant market town of Villefranche and the spectacular St Antonin Noble Val ( backdrop to the films ‘Charlotte Grey’ and more recently ‘The Hundred Foot Journey’ starring Helen Mirren), there is easy access to restaurants, shops and the renowned traditional markets – assuming you can drag yourself away from the pool.
